Days of Salmon – Issaquah Salmon Days

The salmon return to Issaquah well before the festival has started.

Each October, the salmon and the tourists return to Issaquah, the latter in order to enjoy the annual Salmon Days Festival. We snuck in a week early, allowing us to enjoy the spectacle of the spawning fish without the accompanying throng of humanity. Here are some pics.

Salmon Days – A Fish Story

Issaquah’s annual street festival marks the return of the intrepid fish.

Each Autumn the salmon make their way from the open ocean to Elliott Bay and up through Lake Union, Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish until they reach their ancient spawning beds in Issaquah Creek. The yearly return is at the heart of the community celebration. This year’s version is pictured below.
