Its name taken before the draining of the fens, Ely offers a wonderful day of exploration.

  1. What a lovely post! 🙂 Having lived in Cambridge and spent much time in Haddenham and Wilburton just around the corner from Ely, I’m quite familiar with this beautiful town. Many a time I have enjoyed tea and scones in the tearoom of the cathedral, looked for special books on the market days and when I travel by train from London to Norwich I either had to change train here or in Cambridge. What I don’t like is the horrendous price charged for entering the cathedral, something like 12 GBP. Do you remember what you paid?
Warm greetings from the Rhine valley! 🙂
